Prayer Craft for Kids — How to Pray Prayer Fan, Printable Lord's Prayer Activity (8 Pages)

Teach your child how to pray, one line at a time. Color it, cut it out, fasten it with a brad or a ribbon, and fan it open. Each blade of this prayer fan carries one line of the Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6:9-13, a picture to color and a short "Now you pray" prompt, so children learn to pray in their own words as well as say the prayer Jesus taught.

WHAT YOU GET (8 pages, US Letter and A4)

• 9 fan blades on 3 sheets: a cover blade, the seven lines of the Lord's Prayer, and a blank "My own prayer" blade to write or draw on
• A line-art picture to color on every blade: a starry sky, a sprouting seed, a sparrow, a loaf of bread, open hands, a lantern on a path and a sunrise
• A "Now you pray" prompt on every line, like "Ask God for what you need today, and thank Him for your food."
• A how-to-make page with six picture steps and a supply list
• A parent & teacher page: ideas for bedtime and for a class, the whole passage, three questions to talk about and a note on the words
• A "Seven nights of prayer" chart: pray one blade a night, color the circle and write who or what you prayed for
• A "My Prayer Hand" page: trace a hand and pray five little prayers, one for each finger

THE BIBLE'S OWN WORDS, KEPT WORD FOR WORD. Every blade quotes the World English Bible exactly, so two lines may sound new: "Forgive us our debts" and "Bring us not into temptation". We never paraphrase Scripture, so the parent page explains both in plain words you can share with your child. Read in order, the seven blades are the whole prayer, ending "For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen."

FOR HOME OR A CLASS. Card stock, crayons, scissors, a hole punch and one brad (split pin) or about 8 inches of ribbon. Allow about 30 minutes, plus coloring time. Brads have sharp legs, so please fasten them yourself and use ribbon for very young children. One purchase covers one home, or one class or group.
